4 reasons to invest in an Ultraformer III treatment

What if we told you there was a treatment that you only needed to get once a year to tighten and lift your skin and reduce wrinkles? Now, what if we said that it caused minimal discomfort with nearly no downtime afterwards? Introducing Ultraformer III – a revolutionary new non-invasive aesthetics treatment that’s currently causing a stir worldwide, with more than 10 million success stories, and counting! Here are just some of the reasons why we recommend you invest in a treatment:

It tightens and lifts your skin without scalpels

The Ultraformer III is fast becoming the must-have treatment for those looking for a face lift, without having to go under the knife. The science behind this little gem of technology is micro and macro focused ultrasound technology that precisely targets the SMAS layer of the skin (that’s the layer that surgeons pull back when doing a face lift) with short pulses that stimulate new collagen production. The end result? Tighter, more lifted skin on the cheeks and neck (great for battling the dreaded turkey neck!). Added bonus, it can also reduce hooding and sagging around the eyes.

It reduces wrinkles without injections

Looking to eliminate wrinkles but not too keen on injections? The Ultraformer III has a wrinkle cartridge, which is a 2.0mm macro focused cartridge that can be used to treat superficial wrinkles around the eyes and lips more effectively than any other skin tightening technology. Yes, you can use dermal fillers and toxins to get the same result, but the benefit of the Ultraformer III (aside from the fact that there are no needles involved) is that it also works to improve the health and strength of the skin.

It delivers immediate results with little to no downtime

Clients have been known to experience results immediately after their Ultraformer III treatment. Whilst peak results are experienced at the 12-week mark, tightening can occur immediately post treatment, with facial contours and fine lines showing improvement up to eight weeks post treatment. Also, there’s little to no downtime and you’re able to resume your everyday skincare and makeup routine right away.

It’s long-lasting value

For people with mild to moderate skin laxity, only one treatment of Ultraformer III is required per year to experience firmer, more youthful skin. Talk about a treatment that really delivers results!

Putting your face in the right hands – the changing nature of injectables

It took me a few years to bring injectable anti-wrinkle treatments into the clinics. I guess I was somewhat of a late adopter of what is the most common aesthetic procedure performed in the world.

It took me so long because I felt it was at odds with what we give our clients – beautiful, healthy skin. I felt I was crossing to the dark side.

It used to be that the subject of ‘cosmetic injectables’ polarised people, split the room, but the statistics today tell another story. Whereas 5 to 10 years ago, having these procedures done was a guilty secret, nowadays there is an acceptance of injectables being ‘something I would consider’ if not ‘something I’m already having done’.

Anti-wrinkle injections and dermal filler treatments are simply one of a number of different rejuvenation treatments we have at the clinics. They form part of many of our clients overall treatment plan, and they give incredible, immediate effects. How, when and where you use them is the key to a natural, age appropriate appearance.

All of us simply want to age well with healthy skin. The amount of damage we inflict on our skin means we are ageing before our time – increased redness, pigmentation and dehydration is coupled with wrinkling and loss of volume. All of this is premature, environmentally induced ageing but the good news is you can do something about all aspects of it through using the right combination of lasers, skincare and injectables.

I always tell my clients it is my job to restore their skin to a healthy state, closer to their chronological age, without anyone noticing; subtle, fresh and natural, not ‘done’. Without a doubt anti-wrinkle injectables and dermal fillers can play a part in this – weakening the wrinkle producing muscles and restoring lost volume.

Ensuring natural results is a priority for my team and I, and it comes down to the experienced practitioner and the innovative technology they have access to. Where procedures like dermal fillers go wrong, is when only one area of volume loss is addressed and the natural balance of the face is altered, or when injectables are used exclusively and the quality and tone of the skin isn’t addressed at all – we have all seen ‘those’ women who just don’t look right.

At the clinics, our nurses and doctors allow our clients to enjoy the process of looking after themselves, without the worry of an unnatural result. We know better than anyone, how to combine treatments to improve tone, hydration and texture and yes, reduce wrinkles and restore lost volume.

Similar to going to the gym, or getting your hair done, we all love how we feel when we know we look our best, so if you are looking for advice on how to care for your skin and age well and want to know about all the options, please don’t hesitate to come in and talk to us. It all starts with a simple conversation.

3 ways to shrink your pores

Are you noticing enlarged pores on your nose and cheeks? You’re not alone. Large open pores are a major pain point for many Australian women. They make our skin look duller and feel thicker.

Pores play a vital role in our skin’s function. They provide a pathway for hair to grow and the skins natural oil (sebum) to reach the surface and protect the skin from dehydration. Wherever there is a hair, there will be a pore!

When pores become enlarged, the cause is generally due to one of two things. The first is a blockage by dead skin, oil build up, dirt and blackheads, which causes the pore to expand. The second is age. Pores tend to become more dilated the older we get due to collagen loss.

How prone you are to enlarged pores is dependent on your skin type. People with drier skin, often have pores that are barely visible, while those with oily, thicker skin tend to have larger, more obvious pores.

The good news for people who fall into the latter category is that your skin has higher sebum or oil production which means it’s often better hydrated and less prone to wrinkles.

But that doesn’t solve the problem of large pores. So how do you shrink them? At Clear Complexions, we recommend three treatment options:

Clear + Brilliant

Clear + Brilliant fills the gap between microdermabrasion and more aggressive treatments. It works to resurface your skin, providing a greater degree of refinement for those with very large pores. Full face treatment cost – $395.

Genesis Laser

Genesis Laser can be used to minimise larger pores by heating the mid-dermis layer of your skin, providing textural improvement. It also has the added benefit of reducing redness and stimulating collagen and hyaluronic acid, aiding skin strength and hydration. Full face treatment cost – $345

HydraFacial MD and peels

HydraFacial MD and peels are effective in removing minor skin build up and giving your skin a proverbial clean slate. Incorporated into a monthly maintenance plan with your daily skincare routine, this treatment will keep your skin looking fresh and refined. Full face treatment cost – $195.

Using the correct medical-grade skincare containing lactic, glycolic acid and salicylic acids as well as Vitamin A and Vitamin B3 can improve your pore size by helping to cleanse, clear away dead skin and control excess oil production. Finally, remember to cleanse daily, exfoliate twice a week and use a good quality moisturiser and sunscreen every day.

How to look younger without going under the knife

Like so many 40 plus women, I’m constantly on the lookout for technology that can help treat the skin laxity and general sagging that happens on our face and neck as we age (I’ll do anything to avoid a turkey neck!). As many of our clients know, I’m also an advocate for treatments that are non-invasive – that means no knives!

To date, tightening and lifting ageing skin without scalpels has been tricky, but not impossible. Radio frequency devices like Thermage, which we’ve had in our clinics for the last five years, have delivered great results for our clients.

Now however, there’s a non-invasive treatment that’s truly hit the nail on the head for treating sagging skin and turkey necks. It’s called Ultraformer III. Like Thermage, Ultraformer III delivers heat energy into the skin to stimulate collagen remodelling. Where it differs from Thermage is in its level of penetration. Ultraformer III penetrates more deeply into the skin. It also allows you to precisely target sagging areas, rather than having to do the whole face or neck.

The science behind Ultraformer III is in its micro and macro focused ultrasound technology. Through short pulses, it stimulates new collagen by precisely targets the SMAS layer in the skin, which is the skin that surgeons pull back when doing a facelift. In addition, the Ultraformer III has a 2.0mm macro focused wrinkle cartridge that treats superficial wrinkles around the eyes and lips. It really is a revolutionary device that’s shortening treatment times, eliminating downtimes, and providing an overall better client experience.

In my opinion, the treatment is ideal for clients who, like me, are 40 plus with mild to moderate skin laxity, and are looking for firmer, more youthful skin, without having to go under the knife.

Another benefit to Ultraformer III and one of the key reasons we’ve introduced it into our clinics, is cost. An Ultraformer III face and neck treatment costs approximately $1,950. Now that may seem high but consider this: most clients only need one Ultraformer III treatment per year to maintain their results (which are nearly immediate by the way). Broken down over twelve months, that’s $162.50, or roughly the cost of having a regular facial. However, we currently have a limited time offer to receive 10% off Ultraformer treatments in any area. Learn More.

To me, the benefits of Ultraformer III in treating sagging skin and wrinkles more than delivers a return on your investment, but don’t take my word for it. I encourage you to visit our clinics and book a review with us, so we can show you what this incredible technology can do for you.

We look forward to seeing you.

Secrets to a Clear Complexion this Winter

Winter is coming which means now’s the time you need to be prepping your
skin for the harsh winds and cold temperatures that are about to be upon us.

It’s incredible how much our skin changes in the cooler months. Less moisture in the air and artificial heating causes water to be lost from skin cells called Keratinocytes and strips essential lipids away from the surface of our skin, leading to a dry, dehydrated and easily irritated complexion.

This can all easily be avoided by sticking to a well-structured skincare routine that includes:

  1. A moisturiser specially formulated for dry skin
  2. A hydrating cleanser that will prevent water loss and keep your skin’s lipid barrier intact
  3. Antioxidants such as vitamins B3, A and C to maintain optimal skin health and hydration
  4. Lip balm to protect against dryness and cracking
  5. Sunscreen. Don’t think that just because it’s freezing outside that you can go without sunscreen. Sun damage occurs even in winter!

At Clear Complexions, we recommend Rationale products. Known for their medical-grade quality, the Rationale range, in line with regular treatments, will deliver you the best results.

The cooler months are also a great opportunity to start addressing damage caused by exposure to sun. Treatments such as Fraxel Laser, Genesis laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) can repair vascular damage and reduce sun spots. These treatments target fine vessels and pigmentation in the skin creating a smoother, healthier complexion.

Another great treatment to consider is Platelet Rich Plasma or PRP. A go-to treatment for celebrities like Kim Kardashian, PRP improves your skin’s plumpness and elasticity, reduces fine lines and wrinkles and enhances skin tone.

It works by drawing some of your blood, which is then spun in a centrifuge to separate the plasma from other blood products, before the plasma is re-injected into a specific area. The plasma is rich in stem cells and growth factors and accelerates the body’s natural production of collagen and elastin. It’s a fantastic way for increasing the structural integrity and health of the skin, particularly skin that has had more than its fair share of sun damage over the years.  For more details about PRP, book a consultation with our experienced nurses to determine how PRP could assist you.

Whether it’s hydration or restoration you’re looking for this winter, we’re here to help support you on your journey to beautiful, healthy skin. Our team of highly qualified registered nurses and doctors have helped to treat thousands of Australians since we started in 2003. To find out more, Contact us at, or call your local clinic.

Top 5 Treatments to lift, tighten and rejuvenate your neck

Do you have discoloured, wrinkled or sagging skin on your neck or chest?
Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Many women over the age of 40 do.

The skin on our neck and décolletage is prone to premature ageing as it’s three times thinner than the skin on our faces and lacks the regenerative ability required to bounce back when damaged.

Environmental factors such as excessive UV exposure and over sensitisation from perfume spraying are key causes for our necks and décolletages ageing before their time and can often lead to a condition called Poikiloderma. Poikiloderma sounds serious, and for the thinner skin on your neck and chest, it is. Manifesting as reddish, brown skin, Poikiloderma causes a rough or ‘chicken skin’ texture. This rough texture is elastosis, resulting from abnormal elastin fibres being produced, and can make the skin appear thickened, wrinkled and sagging.

In addition to Poikiloderma, some women can develop an ageing ‘veiny’ appearance to the neck. This is due to a muscle called the platysma becoming more prominent, resulting in platysmal bands, which contribute to the ‘turkey neck’ that many women experience as they get older.

If you’re suffering from one or more of the above, don’t worry, all’s not lost. Here are our top five treatments that really improve the look and feel of your neck and décolletage:

1. Ultraformer III to tighten

Ultraformer III is an innovative ultrasound device that uses precise skin pulses to tighten, lift and reduce wrinkles. It precisely targets multiple deeper layers of the skin, including the SMAS layer (which is the layer that surgeons pull back when doing a face lift), stimulating new collagen and providing long-term tightening of the skin. A face and neck Ultraformer III treatment takes approximately 60 minutes with many of our clients seeing tightening immediately post treatment. Learn more.

2. Fraxel Dual to reduce wrinkling

Fraxel is a fractionated laser that puts pinpricks of heat into the skin, creating an injury below the surface that then stimulates a repair and renewal process whereby the damaged cells are bought to the surface and shed, and new collagen and hyaluronic acid is generated. Fraxel is perfect for anyone who has prematurely aged their skin with too much sun exposure as it significantly improves the quality and overall health of skin by strengthening, hydrating and reducing wrinkles and pigmentation. Learn more.

3. IPL to reduce pigmentation and redness

Intense Pulsed Light, or IPL, emits a pulse of light at a wavelength that is absorbed by the treated area (in this case the melanin in a pigmentation lesion), with the heat causing the unwanted particles to break up into smaller particles that your body then removes via its natural waste processes. A quick treatment that takes approximately 30 minutes, our consultants have a unique process to target and tailor the treatment to your specific needs, delivering you better results. Learn more.

4. Genesis Laser to boost collagen

Genesis laser uses high-power microsecond pulses at high repetition rates to safely heat the skin. This stimulates collagen and elastin regrowth to soften the appearance of wrinkles and scarring and reduce redness in dilated capillaries. Learn more.

5. Anti-wrinkle injections to reduce platsymal bands

Injectable anti-wrinkle treatments involve small amounts of Botulism Toxin being injected into specific areas of the face and neck to weaken the muscle movement, preventing the muscles from contracting to form the wrinkle, or from bulging to form a ‘turkey neck’ appearance. Learn more.

At Clear Complexions, we recommend a multi-modality approach – which a fancy way of saying that we suggest a combination of the above treatments, depending on the condition you are looking to treat. The best starting point is to book a consultation with one of our experienced nurses who will advise you on which treatments are best to address your skin – we are ‘The Skin Experts’ after all!

Of course, while it is incredible the difference appropriate and targeted treatments can achieve, prevention is always better. So, if you remember just one thing, make sure it’s to keep that sunscreen up daily to your face AND neck AND décolletage…and tell the other ladies (and men) in your life to do the same!

Easter Downtime.

Having the luxury of taking a few days out of routine to have treatment is rare!
That’s why the Easter break is the perfect opportunity to relax from those downtime treatments.

The treatment you know you should have, delivers incredible results but you hate the social downtime.  However, there is no better way to resurface and rejuvenate aged, wrinkled and sun damaged skin.

A Fraxel treatment works on your skin in three ways

  • Resurfacing your complexion to leave new, fresh and soft skin.
  • Lightens the pigmentation on your face, neck, décolletage and even hands.
  • Acts as a stimulus for ongoing collagen and elastin production, tightening and strengthening the health of your skin.

You will need three to four days of social downtime, so the Easter long weekend is ideal.

Dermal Filler

Dermal Filler treatment can also require a few days downtime depending on individual bruising.

A common concern is a loss of fullness in the lips. As you age, bone reabsorption occurs as well as gum loss, causing the lips to turn inwards resulting in thinner lips and some fine lines.

Our highly experience and trained Nurses are skilled in producing a natural refresh look. A well placed dermal filler can give definition and a natural, age appropriate boost of volume.

The incredible results are immediately and produce a softness of the face. Learn More.

Prepare for confidence and start your skin routine to beat dryness and dehydration this winter!

Our skin often changes towards the Winter months as a cool and windy environment means there is less moisture in the air and we often are walking in and out of artificial heating. Water is lost from skin cells called Keratinocytes and essential lipids are stripped from the surface of your skin, leading to a dry and easily irritated complexion.

Feel confident in your skin and wear minimal makeup this winter! Below are the treatments that will help achieve a clear hydrated complexion that you can maintain throughout the cold season.

Clear & Brilliant.

To achieve a hydrated and plump complexion Clear and Brilliant is the answer. This effective, non-invasive treatment is designed to focus on skin tone and texture, elasticity, collagen production and minimising early signs of aging.

How does it work?

After a topical numbing gel is applied, one of our experienced Nurses will glide the Clear and anna heinrich clear and brilliantBrilliant hand piece across the surface of your skin to ensure even application. The hand piece delivers an even pattern of fractional laser to your skin targeting impurities below the surface. The healthy skin then helps turn over the tiny lesions below the surface to reveal fresh, smoother, healthier glowing skin.

A build-up of dead skin cells can make it difficult for normal moisturises to penetrate and hydrate the skin, leading to a dull complexion. HydraFacial treatments are the perfect way to cleanse, extract, hydrate and protect your skin.

How does it work?

The first phase involves uncovering a new layer of skin with a gentle exfoliation to remove dead cells and hydrafacial-treatment-faciala relaxing resurfacing. The extract and hydrate step removes any build up of dirt or grime in pores with a painless suction. While the pores are open they are then nourished with intense moisturises that quench the skin. Finally, the surface of the skin is covered with antioxidants and peptides to protect and maximise your glow.
