Interested in body sculpting? Here’s everything you need to know about truSculpt® 3D

Sometimes, no matter how hard we exercise or how well we eat, there seems to be stubborn body fat that we just can’t seem to get rid of, mostly around the stomach, thighs and those dreaded love handles!

Now, a new advancement in non-invasive body contouring is promising to banish unwanted fat. It’s called truSculpt® 3D, and here’s everything you need to know about the innovative new treatment.

What is truSculpt® 3D?

truSculpt® 3D is a treatment that uses radio frequency technology to target, heat and destroy fat cells deep below the skin’s surface, reducing up to 24% of body fat within the treated area and reshaping problem areas, leaving you with a tighter, contoured shape in just six to 12 weeks.

What areas can be treated with truSculpt® 3D?

Any areas of unwanted body fat can be treated with truSculpt® 3D, including your abdomen, flanks (love handles), upper back, arms, thighs, double chin and ankles. Keep in mind though, the treatment can’t be used on areas where no, or little fat is present, such as the breast and chest area, or over reproductive organs.

Who is suitable for truSculpt® 3D?

truSculpt® 3D is suited for people of all sin types, who are healthy (with a body mass index of less than 30) but have problem areas of stubborn fat that they can’t shift. At your first appointment, our nurses and clinicians will conduct an in-depth consultation with you to assess your goals and determine if you are a good candidate for the treatment.

How is truSculpt® 3D different from CoolSculpt?

truSculpt® 3D uses radio frequency technology to heat and destroy unwanted body fat, whereas CoolSculpting freezes the area. While both are effective body contouring treatments, truSculpt® 3D is able to treat a wider area during one treatment and also penetrates more deeply for greater results. The treatment is also shorter and requires no downtime.

How many treatments will I need?

For body treatments, generally only one treatment is required, however a second treatment can be performed 12 weeks post the first treatment if additional results are desired.

For face and neck treatments, generally three treatments, spaced four weeks apart are required for the best results.

Is it painful?

No. truSculpt® 3D is a heat-based treatment that feels similar to a hot stone massage. You will feel a warming sensation when the device is glided over the treatment area that should remain comfortable throughout.

Is there downtime involved post-treatment?

There is no downtime following truSculpt® 3D. The area treated may be tender but this will resolve within a few days. You can immediately return to your normal activities post treatment.

Your body will immediately begin to break down and flush out damaged fat cells following the truSculpt® 3D treatment. Results are visible as early as six weeks post treatment, with the best results seen at 12 weeks.

Considering cosmetic Injectables? Our expert advice for first timers

Anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers are some of our most popular treatments and play an important part of many of our clients’ overall treatment plans. That’s because, when used in combination with our medical-grade skincare, laser and light and body sculpting treatments, they deliver long-lasting, natural looking results that leave our clients looking and feeling their confident best.

Clients embarking on their aesthetic journey and taking their first plunge into injectables, regardless of their age, all generally ask the same questions about the treatments and results they will experience. So, we thought we’d ask our experienced team of nurses and doctors for their advice for those looking to start their injectables journey.

Advice #1

“You won’t look frozen or fake! So many of our clients are worried about looking artificial or unable to have mobility in treated areas, but we are highly-skilled in ensuring you achieve a natural looking result.”

Advice #2

“Injectables aren’t just for getting rid of wrinkles, they’re great for enhancing features – another great reason to embark on your injectables journey! Injectables such as dermal filler can amplify your features or correct asymmetry in your cheeks, lips and chin.”

Advice #3

“Put your aesthetic journey in the hands of people you can trust. We often see clients who have started their journey in other clinics and the outcome hasn’t been as expected, or in some cases, has needed repair. It is important that you choose your clinic carefully and trust your clinician. Injectables are fantastic, but you don’t want to make the wrong choice in where you go for treatment.”

Advice #4

“They really do rejuvenate your skin! Dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle injections restore a person’s appearance and can reverse those tired lines that so many of clients are concerned with.”

At Clear Complexions, we pride ourselves on our holistic, three-dimensional approach to treating our clients’ skin. We balance the use of medical grade skincare treatments, injectables and high-quality skincare, delivering long-lasting, natural looking results that leave you with a new level of confidence. To find out how these treatments can help you achieve a fresh appearance, contact Clear Complexions today.

How Skinboosters® helped rejuvenate my tired and ageing hands

Like many of my clients, I’m a woman in her mid-forties who is wondering what on earth happened to her hands?!

I must admit, I never really considered that one day I’d actually be conscious of how aged my hands look, but years of horse riding and cycling has thinned the skin considerably and left them looking very crepey. The test for elasticity is to pinch the skin and see how quickly it resumes it previous position. The skin on my hands was forming peaks!

In hindsight, wearing gloves probably would have been a good idea, but much to my relief, it’s not too late, thanks to our newest treatment, Skinboosters®.

I’ve now received Skinboosters® treatments on my face and hands. My face is without a doubt more hydrated, but I never expected the difference one treatment would make to my hands. After two to three weeks they are visibly more hydrated, smoother and definitely passing the ‘pinch test’.

For those who are still new to the treatment, Skinboosters® are a micro form of dermal filler. Rather than being injected underneath the skin to create volume like most forms of dermal filler, Skinboosters® are injected into the skin for intense hydration.

The product in Skinboosters®, Restylane Vital, is a very thin gel containing hyaluronic acid, which is found naturally within the body. It works to draw moisture to it, which it then retains (hyaluronic acid can hold thousands of times its own weight in water), resulting in increased hydration. The treatment also stimulates collagen and elastin, which firms and smooths the skin.

Normally, hands require one to two treatments, depending on the condition of your skin. I’m now officially a convert though, so I’m keen for that second one, which is usually around the six- week mark. I’ve already booked my appointment!

To learn more about Skinboosters®, please give us a call at the clinics anytime or book online. I look forward to seeing you in clinic.

Why body sculpting is now available at Clear Complexions

Over the past 14 years at Clear Complexions, I have lost count of the number of times I’ve been asked if we would be introducing body contouring treatments. I’ve resisted to date, as the available technology just didn’t stack up. Either it was too painful, required too many treatments, or the results were simply uninspiring. But in truSculpt® 3D, I have finally found a body contouring technology that delivers on all fronts – and now it is available to you.

Those who know me well know I love to stay active; running, riding and swimming. For the most part triathlons keep you fit but constant cardio doesn’t address the ‘exercise resistant’ pockets of fat that I wish weren’t there! I know I’m not alone. This is where body sculpting or contouring technology such as truSculpt® can add benefit. Not to be confused with weight loss technology, body contouring focuses on defining and toning by reducing unwanted body fat. Sounds pretty good to me.

Here are the facts about truSculpt® 3D as well as the answers to some of your questions.

How does it work?

truSculpt® 3D uses radio frequency technology to target, heat and destroy fat cells. The device emits clinically therapeutic 45-degree heat deep below the skin’s surface to damage fat cells which are then absorbed by your body over the course of four to eight weeks before being eliminated.

What areas can be treated?

truSculpt® 3D treats any area where fat deposits accumulate, such as the abdomen, flanks (‘love handles’) under the arms, the neck (“turkey neck”), around the buttocks and the inner and outer thighs. Multiple areas can be treated at a single session.

How many treatments are needed? When will results be seen?

Although results can be seen after one treatment, some clients may choose to repeat a treatment to achieve further improvement. Treating the submentum (‘turkey neck’) may require up to three treatments spaced monthly. Results can be seen four to 12 weeks post initial treatment.

What results can I expect?

Results will vary for each client, but with truSculpt® 3D you can expect to get up to 24% fat destruction in the treated area with one treatment. Further treatment may result is as much as 36% improvement.

Would I be suitable for truSculpt® 3D?

truSculpt® 3D is suitable for men and women of all skin types and colours, who are healthy and have a body mass index (BMI) of less than 30. Those prohibited from treatment are pregnant women and people with pacemakers or cancer.

What does the truSculpt® 3D feel like?

Most body contouring treatments are extremely uncomfortable, if not downright painful. truSculpt® 3D is really comfortable, feeling similar to a hot stone massage!

I’m sure you have many more questions and we’d be delighted to help answer those. Please give us a call at the clinics anytime or book online if you’d prefer. I look forward to seeing you in clinic.

Know your masks from your moisturisers

Masks, moisturisers, serums, cleansers – there are so many skincare products available to us today. But, do we need them all? What products are absolutely essential to maintaining fresh, glowing and hydrated skin? We explain it all.

Cleansers:

Often the first step in your skincare regime, cleansers wash away the impurities left on the skin after a day of working, sweating, make up and activity, and are vital to maintaining a clean and healthy complexion. Investing in a high-quality cleanser will ensure that you wash away the bad stuff, without also stripping your skin of all the good stuff too. Incorporate daily into your skincare regime.

Serums:

One of the newer products gaining a lot of hype, serums are fantastic for rejuvenating and restoring your skin, particularly when used daily in conjunction with a high-quality moisturiser. There are a range of different serums that focus on integrating different vitamins and minerals back into your skin; with the most common including vitamin A, B, C or E. Each serum carries different benefits, so book a consultation with <x clinic> to ensure you invest in the best solution for your skin.

Moisturisers:

Moisturisers play one of the most important roles in keeping your skin healthy. Good quality moisturisers not only keep your skin hydrated, but also protect and rejuvenate; feeding your skin with important vitamins and minerals that nourish long after the first application. When selecting a moisturiser, look for ones that contain vitamins A and C for maximum hydration, and avoid products that include silicon or petroleum derivatives as they don’t actually penetrate the skin and deliver hydration. Once you’ve found a good quality moisturiser for your skin type, use morning and night for the best results.

Masks:

Masks are best used weekly in your skin routine, giving your skin an extra boost of nutrients and moisture whilst supporting your daily skincare kit by toning, hydrating and protecting your skin. We recommend you undertake a skin consultation before including masks into your routine to ensure that the products you use will support your skin type and goals.

Sunscreen:

This is a must-have in everyone’s skincare kit!  Wearing an everyday broad spectrum SPF is vital in protecting your skin from damaging UVA and UVB rays, which can penetrate through clouds and glass and play a major part in ageing, not to mention the potential to cause skin cancers. Natural, zinc-based sunscreens have anti-inflammatory properties – perfect for protecting and soothing dry and sensitive skin. Ensure you include at a minimum an SPF30+ sunscreen as part of your morning skincare routine.

Where to from here?

It is important that you understand the current condition of your skin, and the vitamins it might be lacking, before investing in skincare. Book a consultation with our experienced team today to ensure you combine the right mix of treatments and skincare to get your skin looking and feeling its best.

The rise of ‘bro-tox’ – why more men are turning to injectables

More men are cottoning on to the benefits of cosmetic treatments. In the last year, we’ve seen a significant increase in the number of male clients seeking anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers.

The majority of clients coming into the clinic for treatments are men in their 40s. They’re either re-entering the dating scene after divorce, or are envious of their wives who have taken care of their skin and are ageing well. That being said, we are also seeing more younger men who are simply wanting to look their best in a competitive employment and dating market.

Just like their female counterparts, males fall victim to sleepless nights, stress and sun damage which all lead to premature ageing. Treatments such as anti-wrinkle injections can help prevent or reduce ‘grumpy old man’ stress lines, while fillers can help define features and add volume, creating a healthier looking, more youthful appearance.

The techniques differ between male and female clients. Where women turn to injectables to raise their eyebrow arch, enhance their cheekbones, or create a slender, refined jawline, men are seeking a strong, square George Clooney jawline and Brad Pitt’s low eyebrows.

However, while the approach differs, the central theme with injectables for both men and women is achieving a natural look, which comes from seeking out the best, highest quality provider who will consider your individual muscle mass, muscle fibre patter and hair distribution.

At Clear Compelxions, we pride ourselves on our expert three-dimensional approach to treating our clients’ skin. We balance the use of medical grade treatments, injectables and high-quality skincare to deliver long-lasting, natural looking results that leave you with a new level of confidence. Does your skin need a dose of Vitamin C?

There is a lot of hype right now around including vitamin C serums, powders and products into your skincare routine. So why is it so popular? Does it live up to the hype? And is a product infused with active levels of vitamin C essential for you to include in your overall treatment plan? Let’s take a closer look.

How does vitamin C skincare work?

Vitamin C, also known as L-ascorbic acid, is a powerful natural antioxidant that supports skin metabolization – helping to reverse damage caused by lifestyle factors such as sun exposure, as well as boost collagen, leaving you with a younger looking, firmer complexion.

What are the benefits of vitamin C skincare?

Vitamin C benefits the skin in three key ways:

1. It slows melanin production: Vitamin C can reduce skin damage on a cellular level, preventing dark spots and pigmentation brought on by UV exposure, and pregnancy and hormonal changes, such as taking birth control pills. It can also work to slow the development of skin cancer and create a more even skin tone.

2.It reduces the signs of ageing: Vitamin C encourages collagen development, which can slow down and even reduce wrinkles and fine lines. It also brightens and revitalises, resulting in skin that looks and feels fresh, young and firm.

3.It hydrates and heals: Vitamin C is great for people prone to dry and flaking skin as it delivers a high concentration of moisture and hydration. At the same time, it also promotes skin healing – relieving redness, itchiness and burning.

Who is vitamin C skincare good for?

Vitamin C benefits nearly all ages and skin types when incorporated into an overall treatment plan, but is particularly good for people who are looking to prevent ageing or who have specific skin conditions such as hyperpigmentation. It’s not ideal for people with rosacea or sensitive skin as it can cause irritation.

What to look for when buying serums and products with Vitamin C:

When shopping for vitamin C skincare, make sure you look for a pH level of 3.5 or less. The acidity helps the product absorb in the skin, but if the pH is too high, it will irritate your skin. Vitamin C products should also have the right concentration of the active ingredient – ideally no more than 20% concentration is recommended.

It’s important that your skin is assessed to ensure that any product you purchase will support your overall treatment plan and play its role in achieving your aesthetic goals.  To find out more about what skincare to use, and how to balance these with the right treatments, book a consult with our experienced team today.

Why your injectable treatments should be 3-dimensional

Gone are the days when injectables were just for eliminating fine lines and wrinkles. Thanks to advances in technology and products, injectables have the ability to do so much more than just treat your areas of concern – they can provide total facial rejuvenation.

The key is to use them as part of a three-dimensional treatment plan that includes: dermal filler, anti-wrinkle injections and general skin therapies.

1.Dermal filler:

Dermal filler injections are best used for enhancing your features or restoring volume lost over time. They are good for reducing tired, sagging or ‘crepey’ skin under your eyes, plumping your lips, as well as helping to contour your face and create fuller looking cheeks.

2.Anti-wrinkle injections:

The original injectable treatment, anti-wrinkle injections help to tighten and firm your skin. They are amazing for reducing fine lines and wrinkles, as well as preventing new ones from occurring, providing a subtle brow lift to open up your eye area, and firming and tightening the skin on your neck.

3.General skin therapies:

Dermal therapies such as laser and light-based treatments are great for supporting injectable treatments, helping to eliminate dead skin cells, clear congestion and create a more even complexion. They are also good for boosting collagen, giving you firmer, more youthful looking skin.

Treating your whole face and not just the odd fine line or wrinkle will help you achieve an overall fresher, more rejuvenated appearance.

At Clear Complexions, we take pride ourselves on taking a holistic, three-dimensional approach to treating our clients’ skin.  We balance the use of medical grade skincare treatments, injectables and high quality skincare across the entire span of your face, delivering long-lasting, natural looking results that leave you with a new level of confidence.  To find out how these treatments can help you achieve a fresh appearance, contact Clear Complexions today.
