The Clear Complexions Clinics have again displayed their commitment to keeping on the cutting edge with the addition of the Fraxel re:store® Dual laser. This new system takes the industry leading Fraxel® technology to the next level by adding a new wavelength, the first ever on the aesthetics market.
“It is, without question, the most impressive and the safest technology I have ever seen for the treatment of sun damage, pigmentation and aging. It is so exciting“, says Suzie Hoitink.
The addition of the new wavelength enables the clinics nurses to better treat pigmentation and other dyschromia on the entire body, with minimal discomfort and far superior results. With the touch of a button, the nurses can select either the deep penetrating laser for wrinkles or the new, more superficial laser to accelerate clearance of unwanted pigmentation.
The Fraxel® laser is ideal for those with pigmentation (both sun and hormone induced), wrinkles around the eyes and lips, textural skin problems and is also the first to effectively treat acne and surgical scars.
The Fraxel® laser is the only device specifically designed to restore a fraction of skin at a time without breaking the protective outer layer. The unique way Fraxel® works allows for dramatic improvement in the skin without the side effects and risks associated with traditional laser resurfacing. Fraxel® is the most effective treatment for your skin in the family of non-invasive treatments.
In short, the Fraxel® is unique in its ability to effectively treat melasma (hormonal pigment), acne and surgical scarring, fine lines around the eyes and stubborn pigmentation regardless of skin colour. At Clear Complexions Fraxel® is predominantly used to treat these conditions.
HOW DOES FRAXEL® LASER SKIN RESURFACING WORK?
Fraxel® causes tiny dot, or pixel-like damage to treated areas in the skin, leaving most of the surrounding skin intact – fractional damage. The key to safely resurfacing the skin is doing it fractitionally. Fractional Skin Resurfacing allows the skin to heal much faster than if the whole area was treated, as the healthy, untreated tissue surrounding the treated tissue acts as a natural bandage whilst the treated area heals.
Optimal improvement after Fractional Skin Resurfacing is usually visible in about 2 – 3 months as collagen remodelling and skin tightening continues. The longevity of results is comparable to ablative laser resurfacing .
WHY CHOOSE FRAXEL® LASERS?
Fraxel® were the first to pioneer fractionated laser re-surfacing. They have the worldwide patent on the Intelligent Optimal Tracking System which replaces traditional stamping techniques used by other fractionated lasers. Stamping can cause areas of under and over treated skin, leading to either a less effective result or increase in side effects.
Fraxel® is the most researched laser out in the market with proven data. To date, over 250, 000 Fraxel® laser procedures have been performed. There are over 20, 000 histology slides to prove the effectiveness of the Fraxel® laser. Virtually EVERY client will see a result with Fraxel® treatment.
WHAT CAN FRAXEL® TREAT?
Whether you have mild to moderate skin damage, severe skin damage, or you just want prevention and maintenance, there’s a Fraxel® treatment for you. The Fraxel® has FDA clearances for the following skin conditions:
• Wrinkles
• Fine lines around the eyes (crow’s Feet)
• Age spots/sunspots
• Acne scars
• Surgical scars
• Melasma (hormonal pigmentation)
• Discoloration and uneven pigmentation
• Sun-induced redness
• Irregular texture
CAN FRAXEL® TREAT ALL SKINS?
Yes! Since African-American, Indian and Asian skin types generally have more melanin (pigment) than Caucasian skin; they’ve traditionally been at a higher risk for discoloration and scarring with conventional laser treatments. Unlike these procedures, Fraxel® treatment is safe and effective for all skin colours because it precisely targets microscopic areas deep in the skin, leaving surrounding tissue intact – without scarring or increased pigmentation.
Clear Complexions seldom treat Asian, Indian or African-American skin with IPL or conventional laser because of these risks. The unique way Fraxel® works has enabled us to offer a safe treatment option to many people who would otherwise be excluded from treatment.
WHAT AREAS CAN I TREAT?
Unlike previous resurfacing lasers, the Fraxel® laser can be safely used on body sites other than the face. It gives excellent results for the backs of hands, neck and chest in particular.
Under the eye, because of its sensitivity, was previously untreatable with lasers and inject able anti-wrinkle treatments. Now with Fraxel®, this area can be treated with outstanding results. It is FDA approved for wrinkles around the eyes.
WHAT HAPPENS IN A TYPICAL TREATMENT?
First your skin will be thoroughly cleansed. Next a local anesthetic ointment will be applied 45mins-60 mins before the treatment begins.
HOW WILL YOU FEEL DURING AND AFTER TREATMENT?
Most describe a feeling of increased heat during the treatment as well as a prickling sensation. Cold air is blown onto the skin during treatment to minimize any discomfort.
After treatment your skin may feel like it has been sun burnt, this is minimized with cold packs and is well tolerated by most. Your skin will naturally bronze over the next week or two as the natural healing process takes place. After this your skin will flake or exfoliate and the benefits of having Fraxel® performed are revealed.
At Clear Complexions we recommend that our clients organize two to four days off work after undertaking Fraxel® treatment.
IS THE PROCEDURE PAINFUL?
Most patients describe the treatment as a warm prickling sensation. Prior to the Fraxel® procedure you will be given a topical anesthetic and a chilled air blower is used to relieve the mild discomfort during the treatment. Overwhelmingly, the treatment is well tolerated by the vast majority.
HOW SOON WILL I SEE RESULTS?
Immediately, you will notice the pigmentation is faded, if not completely removed, and that your skin is glowing. Fraxel® is a resurfacing laser and part of the treatment is the removal of dead skin cells that give your skin a tired, dull look. People will notice you are looking “healthy”, “well” and “refreshed”.
Over the next 3-6 months, your skin will continue to improve as the stimulated collagen and elastin becomes evident in the fading of fine lines and the softening of deeper wrinkles. Your skin will continue to produce collagen and elastin at an accelerated rate for up to a year after your last treatment.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
As with any treatment at Clear Complexions we place a lot of emphasis on our consultation so that we can formulate a specific plan for you that details how many treatments we think would be suitable to you individually. Our aim is to give you the skin you have always wanted in the least amount of time whilst maintaining an uncompromising commitment to safety.
WHAT PRECAUTIONS SHOULD I TAKE AFTER TREATMENT?
Wearing sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher twice a day is especially important. Avoid direct sun exposure during the healing process and for at least 3 months after treatment. Wearing wide brimmed hats is highly recommended when out in the elements.
WHO WILL PERFORM THE TREATMENT?
At Clear Complexions Fraxel® treatments are performed by only our most experienced Registered Nurses.
It is a condition of employment at Clear Complexions that all nurses undertake an IPL and Laser Safety Training course conducted by the Australasian Academy of Cosmetic Dermal Science in Perth, WA. The nurses at Clear Complexions have performed over 5000 light based treatments and are amongst the most experienced in Australia.
